The quiet lands of Erin

The Quiet Land of Érin is a translation of an old Gaelic exile song, Árd Tí Cuain, by Joan O’ Hara. Her sister Mary O’ Hara recordedit in 1956 for her Decca album Songs of Érin. In the same year,it became the theme song for her BBC TV series Starlight. A recording of a BBC Radio Concert session from the early 1970s was ncluded in 1987 on the BBC anthology Through Bushes and Briar.

« The Quiet Land of Érin » est une traduction d’une ancienne chanson gaélique d’exil, « Árd Tí Cuain », par Joan O’Hara. Sa sœur, Mary O’Hara, l’a enregistrée en 1956 pour son album « Songs of Érin » chez Decca. La même année, elle est devenue le thème musical de sa série télévisée « Starlight » diffusée sur la BBC. Un enregistrement d’une session de concert radiophonique de la BBC datant du début des années 1970 a été inclus en 1987 dans l’anthologie de la BBC « Through Bushes and Briar ».
