The “Scout Prayer” is an emblematic song of Catholic scouting. The lyrics, traditionally attributed to Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, were adapted by Father Jacques Sevin, a prominent founder of the Scouts of France. He replaced the original invocation “O Word of God, teach me to be generous” with a more direct and personal commitment: “Lord Jesus, teach us to be generous.”
