An unexpected anecdote
Interestingly, Jean-Pierre Jeunet did not commission this music specifically for the film. He discovered Yann Tiersen’s musical world quite by chance, thanks to a cassette given to him by an intern, which he listened to while driving. That stroke of luck led to the inclusion of several of Tiersen’s existing pieces — including the now-iconic “Comptine…” — to accompany the whimsical imagery of Amélie.
